Celebrations a week ago,

Celebrations

a week ago, the new moon "appeared" and many began counting time in a new year. today, it was a solar shift that made some others to begin a new count. all in all celebration is in the air just as the lemon and orange trees in my backyard have burst forth in white blooms. the bees are busy and the roses are in bud. the lavender is getting ready for a summer of spreading its fragrance while the lone iris holds court in the front yard. the weeds are having a field day creating new weaves in an otherwise manicured carpet of green. the dandelion heads turn from yellow to grey in hours, it appears! the jasmine creeper has scented the air so heavily, that it clings to you and the clothes even after you leave its viscinity. the neighbor's prosopis ( indian bottle brush) with its brilliant red inflorescence hangs over the fence, like a "thoran" while all the bulbs- tulips, daffodils, hyacinths have retracted back into their bulbs awaiting the next year.

shining forth with new vigor over all this glory is the sun getting warmer each day creeping closer overhead finding every seed buried or exposed, to tease a sapling out. the winds clean away the debris of clouds as the sun reigns supreme over a blue-white sky. more buzzing insects and bugs find their way indoors despite screens and shutters and window panes. and the children play soccer, baseball and basket to soak in all that warmth after a spell of winter and rain.
