In response to " Pick a Job that Wouldn't Go Overseas" by Liz P. Weston on MSNBC.
Dear madam,
I wonder if you have been to India or China? Have you met these nameless and body-less entities who have taken the jobs out of corporate America? Have you asked the basic question why these jobs are moving out?
I happened to visit India not too long ago and had a minor surgery that would have cost me $500 after my insurance payments here in the US, cost me $120 in all- a day in the hospital, a team of surgeon, anesthetist, nurses and ward hands and a consultant Doc. An x-ray with an imported, state of the art machine costs $3-$10 depending on the part of the body x-rayed and the clinic you get it done in. All these figuers are honest to goodness ones- no beating the price down with an insurance carrier inbetween. Of course the great American culture of medical insurance is seeping into India too and I dread to see the ridiculous amounts that the bills will rise to then.
Are you sure that people sitting in B'lore cannot churn out the dialogues for a sitcom in the US? Think again. You need to visit some blogsites written by some of these "Indians" who are more American than some Americans! The ease with which they use Am slang and discuss sports, it would shock u.
Dear lady and all of your ilk, in the business of reporting and giving good advice to your readers, please educate yourselves better before you shoot off through your keyboard. It is very obvious that the "white American" is yet to understand that just because he deigns to clean a toilet it ought to be at least $20 or better make that $200 as his white hands show the dirt more clearly and need to be better covered with all sorts of insurances- liability, health, dental, mental, ophthalmic, car (cant walk to work u see), and if "those dirty brown or black-skinned' did the same job, it ought to be $2 or better still beat the price down to 2 cents and then the recruiter and the Deloites and KPMGs get to keep the difference. Of course the under-informed, dumb Americans who read un-educated reporters like you end up with no job- not even cleaning toilets.
Sadly, feeling for the American unemployed who is cheated in the name of Social security and Medicare, who once paid his taxes and worked to pay his insurance premiums,
