The Presidential Debates Ok,
The Presidential Debates
Ok, we dont have the vote yet in this country and yet like dummies sat in front of the tube, a bit late actually- had to read the transcript online later!, and learned all the mudslinging that went with the war on Iraq. One kept redundantly repeating that everyone was calling it the "wrong war, at the wrong place, at the wrong time". The other kept redundantly repeating that he would make a better president and clean up the mess that this war has created- by having more allies.
Excuse me kind Sirs (if the homeland security department is doing a good job after guzzling all those gazillions of $, they should actually be able to narrow in on this blog and read all the c*** I write!), can we get on with day-to-day issues that are facing this country and planet. Ok, so u thought warring with Iraq would get u free gas. Sorry, people are a bit smarter after a decade. People working in the petroleum industry have much to share about the abysmal wastes and inherent politics that affect oil prices. As for me, my monthly gas budget has doubled. I strongly encourage my son to walk to & from school. We still dont wish to improve public transport. We want things- OUR WAY, the American way! I am reminded of the super star Rajinikanth saying in one of his films, " Enn vazhi, tani vazhi!" (My way, a unique way!).
Today, there was a 4 hour power failure here and all the traffic came to a standstill and mile-long lines of cars piled up in minutes. The situation is yet to be resolved (after 12 hours of an outage). And we continue to believe in the Am dream and burn more fossil fuel. Where are we heading? I am reminded of Chinua Achabe's book, When Things Fall Apart. It is like an electron that falls off a cyclotron.
